Oh god, I'm gonna poop. Somebody wrap me up and hold me 'til it's over... seriously, MAYDAY! I'm gonna poop. Hold me.
Oh. Yeah. Better...
OK, you wanna chat? Lay me down so I can see you. NO! Not so flat, up a little... Yeah. Yep. Make me smile, K? Look. Look at me. Keep looking I'm gonna do a little dance for you. See that? I'm wiggling all my parts. Fancy, hey? OK, do a trick. Not that. Do that noise and make your eyes bug out. Yeah. Do it again, more eyes. Do it AGAIN and I might laugh. That's good. I like that. You're funny. WOW - WHERE DID YOU GET THAT RING? Help me eat it, it looks good. Oh, that IS good. That's good. Let me see it. Put it in my mouth. What was that noise? What was that?! Oh HI! You're right here still. What is this thing in my mouth? Let me see it. OH MY GOD WHERE DID YOU GET THAT RING? That's beautiful. Put that in my mouth.
HOLY CRAP MY HANDS! They are flying everywhere - PUT SOMETHING IN THEM. No. Not Teddy. He does nothing for me. YES THE SPIDER - MAKE IT WIGGLE. Again. More. And more. Keep it up. MY FEET! Ohmygod, put the spider is in my feet, my feet myfeetmyfeetmyfeet! Would you look at that?! That spider's in my feet! This is fun. This is really good. I like this. WHERE DID IT GO? Get it. Put it back. YES. I like it so much.
STOP IT. I'm not having fun. Oh my gosh my eyes. MY EYES FEEL WEIRD. Give me your shoulder - SERIOUSLY PICK ME UP - give me that shoulder I need to swipe my eyes all over it. GOD! OUCH, your shoulder just hit me in the face. Bounce it better. Bend your knees. Deeper. Ok. I'm fine. Relax! I'm fine.
Do. Not. Put. Me. Down.
I'M OVERWHELMED PICK ME UP. Wrap me in that thing. QUICK. My eyes feel weird! I can't stop taking giant breaths. YES - hold me. Now make it bouncy. More. Almost. Make it bouncier. Do like a twist-bounce. Kind of. Make it more rocky. C'mon, your lower back is more flexible than you think. Just bounce-rock me with a twist. YES! Keep it up. More. LOOK AT ME. Closer. Show me your eyes and shush in my face. Do not look away. Louder. Closer. Yes. OK, enough with the eyes, just gimme your arm and let me lick it a little. More with the bounce. OK, yeah. Shhh. Don't talk to my sister. Just shush me. Pat me. Harder. Gimme a rhythm. Yes, keep rock-bouncing and twist. Pat my bum. That is relaxing. Seriously I feel a lot better. Oh my eyes. They feel weird, but good-weird. Oh yeah, it's dark now but I like it...
WHAT THE...? OK, OK, I'm OK, I thought you stopped bouncing for a second. My bad. It's fine. Never stop.

"OK, enough with the eyes, just gimme your arm and let me lick it a little.".......THAT line cracked me up here at 5:12am. Too funny. What a fantastic perspective. I LOVE Lucy!
ReplyDeleteI have to forward this to my husband. He does the evening shift with our seven week old and I imagine Norah's thoughts are echoed here...he knows that twist-bounce-rock and has used it for all four of our kids. And the patting! And the arm sucking, eye rubbing, shushing. This is SO funny and true.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, this is hilarious. And EXACTLY. Love it :)
ReplyDeleteJust read this again and laughed just as hard. I ate chili for two days in a row, and boy, did I pay for it. Well, Norah did. This post helped me get through it. What is with the rhythmic bum-patting, anyway? And harder seems to comfort her more. My husband loved this post too...it's one we'll visit over and over again.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, this is priceless! My daughter was born a few days before yours and this is spot on!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh! I came over to your blog on my friend Corinne's recommendation. It's been neat to have a peek into your life. Lucy is just precious!
